What is Open Atlas ?
This is a web interface to Google Earth, but also an independent database, where you can stock all your personnal information and share it with the webSurfers. So that your data is 100% accessible from anywhere in a Goolge Earth environment.
I'd like to share my interest in trying to connect geographically all sorts of subjects and services related by their location, In order to present a modern tool for distributing information and services on the web. Google has openned a great door in this direction, if they wouldn't have done it was bound to happen, maps being such easy communication vectors.
Now it's time for the web to re-organise and present content where it really is, and inter-connecting all this together might open up new ideas , answer questions, and maybe will help people finding their way around.
An other important point around geographic data is that it sould be free in order for us developpers to have illimited resources to produce efficient and functional solutions.
I intend to put up an effort with those who beleive in open source type information, geocodes, atlases, and databases.
I'm looking to meet energies going in these directions, the more we are the more efficient we get. Feel free to contact us to share thoughts, colaborate, or even join the dev.
